vitaniI realize I kind of vanished from DW/LJ without any real explanation months ago. Does anyone still use them? It's kind of weird to think that LJ was so important to my life for so long and now it's just... dead.
Well, in case anyone is still around, here's what my life consists of now:
In August I started in the Exotic Animal Training and Management program at America's Teaching Zoo. It has consumed my life. I work every day, and most of those days go from 5 AM to 5 PM. When I'm not cleaning the zoo, helping with the animals, or doing wildlife shows, I'm taking classes on a variety of wildlife-care and training related topics.
It's a ton of work, and pretty overwhelming... but at the same time I wouldn't be anywhere else. It's going to get me where I want to be in life, doing the kind of work I've always dreamed of doing.
I hope you all are doing well, and I'd love to hear from you. If you want to still follow me somewhere, I do most of my fandom flailing on my tumblr and do most updates on my daily life on plurk.
I've also friends-locked all of my previous posts... just because it's been a long time, and there's probably stuff in there I'd be embarrassed about, haha.

Date: 2013-01-13 04:37 am (UTC)I'm so glad to hear that your program is going well! It sounds absolutely amazing. Your work and relationships with animals were always magical, and it's great that you're leveling up even more with this.
As for me, it's still grad school. I'm getting out in May, though! (Knock on wood... ...well, I'm definitely getting out, it's that fancy piece of paper that's always the question.) My big show is at the end of the season, in the March-May period, but I have some smaller projects between now and then. Mostly, though, it's thesis-writing.
How long is your program?
